Society Awards for Service

Honoured recipients of these awards are chosen by our Society Awards Committee and may or may not be presented annually. With the exception of the Ontario Volunteer Awards, they are presented at the Pot Luck Supper.

Service Pins

Beginning in 2012: At the Pot Luck Supper, each member will be presented a service pin for 10, 15 and 20 years of service in horticultural. The District will present 25 year service pins at the June Celebration Luncheon.

Society President’s Awards

This is a certificate which may be presented to a member at the discretion of the President in recognition of outstanding contribution to a society’s activities.

Zufelt Award

Presented to an individual for outstanding achievement in Horticulture (in memory of V.E.R. Zufelt)

Our OHA 100th Anniversary Award

Presented to a member, organization, or individual for significant contribution to any aspect of Horticultural upon the recommendation of the Society Award Committee and approved by the Board.

Life Membership

A member may be honoured with this award for achieving 15 or more years of membership, continued interest in horticulture, active participation in the society and outstanding contribution to its program

Ontario Volunteer Awards

This consists of a certificate & a pin,  presented by the Ontario Government at a local reception. Up to 6 names (+ 1 youth) of qualified recipients are submitted by our award committee each year. Members receive a pin and a certificate indicating the number of consecutive years of volunteer service achieved. Adults are recognized for five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+ years of continuous service. Youth (under the age of 24) are recognized for two of more years of continuous service.
